YellowTop Backcountry Tours – Rules & Guidelines
At YellowTop Backcountry Tours, our priority is providing a fun, safe, and unforgettable wilderness experience. To ensure everyone has a great time, we ask all campers and tourists to follow these essential guidelines.
General Safety & Liability
- All campers and tourists must adhere to these rules for a safe and enjoyable adventure.
- YellowTop Backcountry Tours is not liable for any injuries or illnesses that may occur during the trip.
- Always respect the environment, wildlife, and fellow travelers.
Food & Waste Management
- Hang all food and garbage at least **3 meters off the ground** and **2 meters away from tree trunks** using a rope and pulley system.
- Do NOT bring any food or scented products into your tent, as they may attract wildlife.
- If an outdoor privy is unavailable, dispose of **solid human waste** in small holes **15–20 cm deep**, at least **30 meters away from water, campsites, and trails**, then cover the hole immediately.
- All trash must be packed out—including cigarette butts, food scraps, and packaging.
Alcohol & Drug Policy
- Moderation is key
—campers may bring alcohol, but excessive drinking is strongly discouraged.
- All campers must **keep their empty alcohol containers** until we return to Base Camp.
- **Illegal drugs are strictly prohibited**.
Smoking Guidelines
- Sit down when smoking and be cautious with burning ashes or embers.
- Always **extinguish cigarette butts completely** and pack them out.
Respect for Nature
- Leave natural objects where you find them—it is illegal to cut live vegetation, harass wildlife, or remove items like antlers, stones, or driftwood.
- Never disturb or remove cultural artifacts.
-Do not feed wildlife—it is illegal,
can create dangerous interactions, and may harm the animals.
- Clean your boots and gear to prevent the spread of **invasive species**.
Consideration for Others
- Noise travels easily across water—avoid excessive noise so everyone can enjoy nature’s tranquility.
- Travel **quietly** to improve your chances of spotting wildlife.
- Be courteous and yield to others on trails.
- Some trails have irregular boundaries—always respect private property and roads.
- Before leaving, **check your campsite** to ensure the fire is out and all garbage is collected—including any trash left by previous visitors.
